Roger Snelling Seniors' Clinic (CRSC) – Strategic Renewal

Named in honour of Roger Snelling, MCM's much-respected and deeply loved former director, the Clinique Roger Snelling Clinic (CRSC) Strategic Renewal is a three-year initiative beginning in fall 2026. Its goal is to establish a community resource and reference centre dedicated to end-of-life planning.

Rooted in the experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ older adults while welcoming all older adults and those who care for them, the CRSC will bring together three areas that are often disconnected: reliable end-of-life information, spiritual and community accompaniment, and research-informed practice.

From Earlier Work to a New Vision

The initiative grew out of the Clinic's earlier work on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Through research, workshops, accompaniment, and academic presentations, MCM recognized that people need more than procedural information. They need accessible spaces to explore palliative care, MAiD, advance care planning, legal and practical considerations, family conversations, rituals, grief, meaning, and legacy. Yet existing resources are often fragmented, difficult to find, or primarily designed for professionals.

The CRSC will not replace healthcare, legal, financial, or mental-health professionals. Instead, it will offer education, values-based reflection, navigation, accompaniment, and referrals to qualified resources.

Continuing Roger Snelling's legacy, the initiative is grounded in MCM's and the United Church's commitment to dignity, autonomy, inclusion, social justice, and compassionate presence. In partnership with and housed at Église Unie St-Jean, the project will offer spiritual accompaniment that is ecumenical, interfaith, and fully respectful of secular worldviews.

Preparing for the end of life is understood as an act of care for oneself, one's loved ones, and the wider community.

Please note: The Roger Snelling Seniors' Clinic (CRSC) is distinct from MCM's former Roger Snelling Legal Clinic, which is no longer operational. You can read more about the former Legal Clinic [here].
